Description
The 4-H Youth Development Center of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System located in Columbiana, Alabama is seeking candidates for the position of Coordinator, 4-H Program Support. The Coordinator, 4-H Program Support will be responsible for implementing and coordinating the goals and objectives of the Alabama 4-H Science School (4HSS), and assisting in 4-H Summer Camp. The incumbent will be responsible for the daily operation of the 4HSS. These duties will include scheduling and booking of visiting groups; developing and monitoring weekly schedules for assigned seasonal staff; teaching 4HSS and 4-H Summer Camp science-based programs and outdoor education classes to visiting groups. Must have good organizational skills to efficiently and accurately maintain records of school groups. Essential Functions include coordinating and communicating support functions associated with the scheduling of visiting groups; May assist with routine animal care such as daily feeding, watering, and cleaning/sanitation of enclosures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Environmental Sciences, or a related field; plus two years of experience in communications, delivery of educational programs, and supervision; knowledge of booking operations and procedures; familiarity and ease with using computerized system for entering and tracking event information, and a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to selection. Once hired, incumbent must live within one hour travel time from the 4-H Center.

Employer will consider advanced degrees in lieu of experience. CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certification and Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire date. Strong communication and customer skill skills are also essential.

Desired qualifications include: familiarity with the Alabama Course of Study in all subject areas; residential programming experience; Challenge Course, Climbing Wall, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Archery, and Riflery Certifications.
