The Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is recruiting to fill one full time, permanent, Fish & Wildlife Biologist 4 position located in the Wildlife Program, Region 2. The duty station for this position is the WDFW Regional Office in Ephrata.
•Manages Regional Private Lands/Wildlife Conflict program to foster positive relations between the Department of Fish and Wildlife and private landowners.
•Supervises staff that implements and program priorities on private lands in Region 2.
•Works with Federal Farm Bill programs to plan, implement, and/or monitor habitat improvements (including Technical Service Provider agreements.)
•Provide technical advice and management tools to aid private land owners experiencing crop or livestock losses associated with wildlife.
•Develops habitat plans, implement projects, and enrolls private landowners in WDFW habitat programs.
•Enroll private landowners in WDFW access programs.
•Inventories and monitors wildlife populations and habitat conditions.
•Development of recommendations for wildlife management and recreation opportunities on private property.
•Works with private land owners to minimize and manage wildlife caused damage to crops and livestock Implements wildlife management conservation and recreation activities.
•Communicates with the public and other agencies on diverse wildlife issues within assigned area
•Develops funding and grant proposals for habitat acquisition, enhancement, and management. Prepares project/grant reports.
•Recruits and coordinates hiring of staff. Trains, mentors, direct, and evaluate staff performance.
A Bachelor's degree in wildlife management, natural resource science, or environmental science
Five (5) years of professional experience in wildlife or habitat management or research.
Note: A Master's degree in the applicable science will substitute for one year of the required experience.
