We are hiring a technician (Fish and Wildlife Technician I) at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to help us with data entry and field work for the nongame bird program. This position will focus on data entry, but will also require some time in the field working with raptors and songbirds. Office time (60%) will likely be greater than field time (40%). Field work will involve assisting biologists with Peregrine Falcon monitoring, Cerulean Warbler banding, Barn Owl monitoring, songbird banding, and other nongame avian monitoring projects. This will be an interim position (length- up to 5 months) and will be stationed out of Frankfort, KY.
Housing is not provided. A vehicle is provided for field work. This position may involve working long/irregular hours in hot weather. Overnight travel may be required.

The preferred candidate will have an interest in birds and will have or be pursuing a related degree in wildlife, natural resources, ecology or the biological sciences. Experience with Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and ArcGIS is also preferred. A valid driver's license is required. Experience with mist-netting songbirds, though not required, will come in handy in this position.
