One fisheries technician position is available for 2 - 3 months to assist with a hydro-acoustic study of bull trout outmigration and movement in the Thompson Falls Reservoir of Thompson Falls, Montana.
Work will consist of sampling (angling and electrofishing), acoustic tag implantation, and manual tracking of juvenile bull trout. Additional job duties will include boating, deployment (and weekly maintenance) of stationary hydro-acoustic receivers, and data processing.
Work schedule is likely to be 5 days a week with irregular hours. Start and end dates are relatively flexible. Housing is provided.
Bachelor’s degree or degree-seeking in fisheries biology or closely related field. Preference may be given to applicants with experience with the following: electrofishing, boating (driving and trailering), hydro-acoustics, PIT tagging, and demonstrated ability to work well independently and with others. Strenuous physical activity, long/irregular work hours, and potentially inclement weather are a also conditions of this field work.
