Description
FISHERIES TECHNICIAN
Bureau: Fisheries
Location: Jerome
Duties: Work with a regional fisheries management crew. Duties will include sampling lake, reservoir, and stream fisheries as well as conducting angler surveys. Fishery sampling will be conducted using electro fishing, gillnets, and trap nets. Technicians will be responsible for leading other temporary crew members, maintaining equipment, boat and motor operation, proper data collection, data management, and summarizing data. Sampling activities will include operating a variety of boats. Crew will average 5 day, 40 hour weeks under variable schedules.

Qualifications: B.S. degree in fisheries, biology, or related field; or equivalent in training and experience. Individuals with previous experience conducting fisheries surveys, good computer skills and database management experience will be given preference. Must possess a valid driver's license. Good physical condition and able lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and handle live and dead fish.
