DUTIES: The incumbent will perform a variety of duties. Duties will include placing and servicing insect detection traps; collecting insects with nets and by hand; visually surveying for grasshoppers and other agricultural and environmental pests; harvesting and redistributing biocontrol of weeds agents; utilizing GPS units and gathering data; maintaining and submitting accurate records; frequent extended overnight travel (Mon. - Thurs.) may be required. Driving on rural roads – vehicle is provided. Travel costs and per diem is provided. Possible application of pesticides and/or monitoring of grasshopper control programs. Many of the duties require working independently, without direct supervision. Will be working in outside field conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants for this position must have a minimum of a high school education. Course work or experience in Biological or Agricultural Sciences is preferred, but is not required. Ability to pay attention to detail. Mature, responsible, ability to work independently. Training on all phases of the job will be provided. Valid driver’s license is required.
