Interns use the Casper Mountain environment to introduce students to field studies in science and to encourage an appreciation of the outdoors. Interns receive training in mountain ecology and teaching techniques to lead small groups of predominantly middle-school aged students in the field. Our program offers both day and overnight programs. Most work with the students is done Monday through Thursday, with additional training on Fridays. Weekends provide opportunities to explore the outdoor recreation opportunities on Caper Mountain in the state of Wyoming.
o We hire outdoors enthusiasts who are interested in exploring place-based science education and improving their teaching skills. Interns are typically recent college graduates in science or environmental education or younger students seeking intern opportunities. An interest in environmental science and in working with students outdoors is essential.
