Work as part of the Clearwater Fish Production crew conducting various hatchery operation and projects. Primary responsibilities include data entry in a fast paced environment, ability to multi task, data tracking, and record keeping including the maintaining of databases. Additional responsibilities to be performed will also include general fish culture duties (cleaning and sweeping rearing containers, sample counts, weighing and feeding of fish feed, etc.), hatchery maintenance and upkeep, as well as fish transport and releases. Work consists of a 40 hour week, Monday through Friday, with some night and weekend work required. Some duties may require extended stays overnight in remote locations.
College coursework toward BS degree in Fisheries, Wildlife Management, other related areas of study or equivalent knowledge that is typically gained through previous experience as a biological aide is strongly encouraged but not required. Applicants should have some knowledge of; life history, anatomy, and ecology of various fish species; identifying various fish species; operating power tools and general maintenance and repair skills.
Extended travel will be required at times to remote locations for fish sampling operations. This position involves standing and working in cold water and for up to eight hours per shift; lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with occasional lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds for short distances; and working in extreme weather conditions.
