Assist with habitat management activities on Mud Lake Wildlife Management Area (MDWMA), near Terreton, ID. MDWMA is comprised of large shallow water lake and affiliated wetland and upland habitat. Duties will include vegetation monitoring, water management, rangeland assesments, vegetation and aquatic invertebrate sampling, sage-grouse lek searches and counts, riparian and mesic site evaluations, waterfowl banding, noxious weed control, fence construction, farming and other duties as assigned.
It is preferred that applicants are working toward or have graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife biology, natural resources, botany, or a related field. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in vegetation monitoring. Alternatively the applicant should have experience from a farm-related or natural resource position along with experience safely handling, operating, and maintaining field equipment. Applicant should be able to work well as a crew member and independently. Having a good work ethic, the ability to get along with others, the ability to work independently and as a team member, being a motivated self-starter and a willingness to learn are a must. Valid driver's license is required. A successful candidate should possess or be willing to obtain a professional pesticide applicators license through Idaho State Department of Agriculture (training can be provided on the job).
