Description
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Colorado State University and National Park Service scientists to manage the CSU Undergraduate Listening Lab and to analyze and publish research on soundscapes, bioacoustic conditions, and the relationships between noise and wildlife using the large NPS acoustic dataset. The CSU scientists (PI’s: Lisa Angeloni, Kevin Crooks, George Wittemyer, and Sara Bombaci) are part of a collaborative research team with NPS partners (PI’s: Karen Trevino, Christopher Kavanagh, Emma Brown, and Cathleen Balantic) in the Natural Sounds and Night Skies Division (NSNSD), within the Natural Resource Stewardship and Science Directorate (NRSS) located in Fort Collins, Colorado. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in a pertinent biological, physical, or computer science field by start date of position. Preferred Qualifications: -Demonstrated competency in management and analysis of large datasets. -Demonstrated experience mentoring others in a scientific context. -Record of scholarly publication. -Experience in acoustics and/or using specialized acoustic software (Raven, SongScope, Ishmael, MATLAB, SonoBat, etc.) and relevant data analysis tools (R and/or Python). -Experience collaborating with diverse groups including academic faculty, staff, and graduate/undergraduate students on data analysis and research. -Personal and professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by involvement in teaching, research, creative activity, service to the profession and/or diversity and inclusion activities.
