Job Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist in the administration and coordination of the SCDNR Alligator Project for the Wildlife Section, and increase the public profile and outreach of the SCDNR Alligator Project Job duties include: Assisting the program leader in the administration of the program. Ensuring statewide alligator data and program information is collected, organized and necessary supplies and materials are purchased and distributed in a timely manner. Serving as the Nuisance Alligator Coordinator in Georgetown, Horry, Williamsburg, Florence, Marion, Dillon, Marlboro, Darlington, Lee, Sumter, Clarendon and Kershaw Counties. Providing information, permits, and tags directly to appropriate persons in assigned counties. Assisting in alligator monitoring and research and ensures that it is successfully conducted in a timely manner. Monitoring and facilitating maintenance of any boats and equipment used in that research.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A master's degree in biology, chemistry, or related technical area field; or a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related technical area and two (2) years of experience relevant to the job. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of State alligator projects and alligator biology. Experience with public outreach and education relating to wildlife and effective conservation. Fluency in Microsoft Office including Excel and Access data management. Experience talking to individuals in potentially tense situations. Experience with ArcGIS. Good writing and presentation skills. Strong organizational skills and handling of logistics. Experience in operating and maintaining small boats.
