- Main job duties include: Maintain and ensure the well-being, feeding and care of collection animals, along with the daily care and operation of their enclosures. Participate in the cleaning and sanitizing of the quarantine areas in and around holding tanks, and all animal equipment. Maintain records of all animals in his/her care. Prepare animal diets or other food substances. May assist in both requisition and record keeping of food and other supplies. Other duties: General maintenance of the facility includes the classroom, conference room, exhibit hall, restroom and surrounding areas. Assist the Interpreter at the Environmental Learning Center in all capacities including but not limited to park administrative duties. Maintaining customer service for all park visitors. Assist with programs for all ages as needed. Maintains a safe work environment. Interprets the cultural and natural resources of the State Park Service to park visitors.
- Qualifications
- MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree of higher in Biology or a related field. Knowledge of saltwater aquariums and animal husbandry. Comfortable with handling reptiles. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid South Carolina Driver's License. Knowledge of native flora/fauna of Edisto Island and the Lowcountry.
