Hudson Valley Fisheries is one of the largest indoor recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facilities in the U.S. We are on the cutting edge of RAS aquaculture. We culture Steelhead (Oncorhynchus mykiss) indoors for human consumption with sustainability as a top priority. We raise fish from eyed egg to 3 kg harvest size with the capacity for 1000 metric tons of production per year.

The Aquaculture Technician Intern position will learn and perform some of the responsibilities of an Aquaculture Technician, caring for the aquaculture production systems (35 g-3 kg), including animal husbandry, system cleaning, and general maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
• Weight sampling
• Seining, grading and moving
• Careful observation of animal behavior
Cleaning and operation of:
• Drum filters
• Foam fractionators
• Ozone and UV disinfection systems
• Pumps and aerators
• Tanks and system
The ideal internship candidate will be currently enrolled or within 1 year post-graduation with an Associate degree (or above) in Aquaculture, Fisheries, or a related field. Experience with and strong understanding of fish care is preferred. Self-motivation and strong work ethic are essential to excel in this position. Teamwork is key to our company culture, being able to effectively communicate and discuss solutions in a professional manner is critical.
The Aquaculture technician intern will work 10 hr shifts, Tuesday-Friday for the duration of the internship. The internship program will run between 3-6 months, depending on the availability of the candidate. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US. Onsite housing is made available to the intern for the duration of the internship.
