Description
JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible for coordinating all aspects of a 20 exhibit, 100,000 gallon aquarium program including: • Specimen acquisition and husbandry (feeding, health care, etc.). • Operation of mechanical & environmental systems (pumps, water quality, etc.). • Development and maintenance of display themes, presentation and aesthetics. • Prepares, edits and produces interpretive signage, brochures, press releases, articles, etc. • Participates in verbal and interactive educational activities WORK SCHEDULE: Daily hours will vary according to schedule and activities. Work will require frequent weekend work, and occasional evening work and overnight travel. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in wildlife/fisheries ecology/biology or in wildlife/fisheries conservation/management or a field of study defined by the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and 4 years experience directly related to the above-described duties. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS REQUIRED: 1) Knowledge of collection, transport and care of aquatic animals; 2) Ability to effectively assess and solve problems. Other desirable qualities: 1) Zoo, aquarium or aquaculture experience; 2) Experience with fishing/collecting gear; 3) Educational/exhibit experience; 4) Boating skills; 5) Basic plumbing and mechanical skills.
