BIO-WEST, located in San Marcos, Texas is seeking volunteers or college interns (unpaid) to perform multiple tasks pertaining to an aquatic vegetation restoration project occurring in the Comal River in New Braunfels, Texas. Tasks will include snorkeling to remove non native aquatic plant species, planting native aquatic plant species, maintaining and propagating native aquatic plant species and biological monitoring of the restored areas. Volunteers will gain experience in ecological restoration, dealing with endangered species, aquatic plant ecology, aquatic ecology and biological studies. Volunteers need to be comfortable working in and around the water and preferably SCUBA certified. This opportunity is ideal for the college student looking to gain volunteer hours for a degree plan, gain field experience or undergraduate research is a possibility as well.
