This position is responsible for the supervision and implementation of all aspects of the wildlife program within the geographically assigned area. The position ensures integration of the Wildlife Management program with other programs within the WDNR with special emphasis on the Natural Heritage Conservation, Facilities and Lands, Parks and Recreation, Forestry, Fisheries and Law Enforcement. This position reports to the Natural Resources Region Program Manager and will directly supervise professional and technical wildlife staff in their assigned geographical area. In addition, the role will be a member of the District Wildlife Management Team. Travel within the assigned area will be frequent including regular travel to Madison or other areas of the state for meetings.
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience, training or education in ALL of the following*:
•Experience with wildlife management
•Leadership or supervisory skills
•Skills in interpersonal relationships, team building, communications (oral/written), problem solving/decision making and resolving conflict

Well-qualified applicants will have experience in the following*:
•A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in wildlife management or a field closely related to wildlife management (biology, ecology, etc)
•Experience supervising (direct reports)
•Experience with administrative management (policy and program implementation, budgeting, etc.)
