Provide administrative and technical support to the state deer and elk specialists. Coordinate extensive public input gathering for annual deer season setting processes. Administer annual Disabled Deer Hunter sign up and season. Assist with Deer Management Assistance Program private landowners. Maintain deer and elk related web pages. Fulfill public inquiries and correspondence on deer and elk.
Required: - Knowledge of deer and elk population biology, deer harvest management alternatives, deer population modeling, hunting traditions, hunter behavior, and deer hunting interest groups - Knowledge of deer harvest management statutes and administrative code, deer survey techniques, data base management and analysis, managing Internet content, and technical report writing procedures - The ability to work closely with stakeholders of diverse opinions and objectives to achieve consensus - Familiarity with PC and Microsoft Office products Preferred: - Skill in public speaking and providing presentations - Skill in working with word processing, spreadsheet, web development, and Power Point software - Ability to deal effectively with customers, including conflict management, and respond in a timely manner - Ability to function effectively on teams and lead teams - Ability to establish a network of critical partners - Knowledge of Chippewa Treaty Rights - Knowledge of communication principles and tools and website management Apply online through the WDNR website at Careers/Limited Term Employment
