This position serves as the assistant deer and elk ecologist in the Bureau of Wildlife Management under the supervision of the Big Game Section Chief. This position works directly with the Deer and Elk Ecologist and coordinates and collaborates with other staff including the Administrative Code Specialist, Licensing and Law Enforcement staff, and Research staff to accomplish deer and elk management program objectives. This position requires knowledge of ungulate population biology, harvest management alternatives, deer population modeling, hunting traditions, hunter behavior, and deer and elk hunting interest groups, Chippewa Treaty Rights, deer and elk harvest management statutes and administrative code, ungulate survey techniques, data base management and analysis, and technical report writing procedures.
- Knowledge of deer population biology, deer harvest management strategies, deer population modeling, hunting traditions, hunter behavior, and deer hunting interest groups.
- Experience with PC and Microsoft Corp products.
- Knowledge of deer management state statutes and administrative code, database management, web page programming, and technical report writing.
