Responsible for assisting with the feeding, watering, parasite management, and general care of the larger hoofstock and various bird species. Some examples of the animals include giraffes, camels, zebras, various deer, and various antelope species. The bird species represent various cranes as well as ostriches, emus, and rheas. Additional duties include but are not limited to: fence maintenance, cleaning and maintenance of feeders and waterers, picking up feed and supplies from local stores, observation of animals for possible injuries or illnesses, and other farm-related chores. Must be able to confidently access the animals and their enclosures daily while maintaining a responsible and alert mindset, informing us of issues when they arise, and showing a true interest in all the animals and their well-being. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team/group setting. Relocation expenses will not be provided.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly. Must be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and occasional snow. Must have the ability to work around or learn how to work around large animals. Prefer previous experience working with large farm animals such as cattle and horses. Being able to jump from one project to another without compromising either is a plus. To apply email resume and cover letter to the email listed below.
