- Assistant Park Ranger - Interpretation and Education (I&E) Hours: 40 Hours per week, 8:00am-5:00pm Days: Varied, Weekend and Holiday work required Pay: $14.00 per hour Job Term: Seasonal, eleven months. Possibility for re-hire after 1-month mandatory leave Duties: • Design and deliver educational programs for visitors of all ages, with an emphasis on programs for children 10 years old and under • Maintain existing content and add new educational materials to the Sandhills Discovery Room, the park’s interactive learning center • Maintain feeding and cleaning schedules for all program animals (snakes, turtle, fish, etc.) • Use social media to promote programs, events, and other pertinent park information • Assist with planning and facilitating large park events such as Trick-or-Treat Trail and Party for the Pine festival • Participate on prescribed burns after receiving required training • Assist with any other park needs as they arise, including resource management, general park maintenance, janitorial duties, office work, etc. How to Apply: You must fill out a state application form PD-107. - • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license • Must be able to work in all types of weather • Must be willing to work flexible hours when emergencies, events, or prescribed burns require longer hours • Preferred experience working with children and/or a background in the natural sciences
