You must be: a U.S. citizen or legal resident. fully vaccinated for covid-19 prior to the start of their internship. a college graduate. personal vehicle required Project Description: The RAP intern will support a wide variety of research, writing and communication tasks as part of the Pacific Planning Service Group, a new land management planning organization in the U. S. Forest Service. Assignments will be related to revision of land management plans for National Forests in California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska. Types of tasks may include: Research on demographics and socioeconomic settings for communities that are affected by national forest management. Compile existing information on a variety of natural resources as well as activities that typically occur on national forest system lands. Help organize and coordinate communication and training for forest service planning teams and natural resource managers. Create story maps or interactive/dynamic materials that can be used to inform the public about upcoming planning activities and how to participate. Support internal communication by keeping SharePoint up to date with current information on planning activities and incorporating design features that improve agency access to plan-related information. Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in the following disciplines: Environmental Science, Geography, Natural Resources, Social Science, Historical Resource, and Urban or Regional Planning Direct Hire Authority (DHA) All RAP interns receive Direct Hire Authority (DHA) at the successful conclusion of their internship. DHA status enables an agency to hire, after public notice is given, any qualified applicant.
