The School of Renewable Natural Resources (RNR) (https://www.lsu.edu/rnr/) in the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center and LSU College of Agriculture invites applications for a 12-month faculty position in fisheries and aquaculture with research (60%) and teaching (40%) responsibilities. The School of Renewable Natural Resources consists of approximately 30 faculty members, 10 research, extension, and teaching associates, and 6 support staff members. There are about 300 undergraduate students and 50 graduate students. The School has B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs in Renewable Natural Resources with areas of concentration in Wildlife, Forestry, Forest Products, Watershed Science, and Fisheries and Aquaculture. The RNR faculty is a diverse group of talented, multidisciplinary faculty and staff in fulfilling the research, teaching, and extension missions of a Research I land-grant university.
Qualifications
We are seeking an organismal fisheries scientist with research in one or more of the following areas: climate science; large river ecology; spatial ecology; toxicology; physiology; genetic resource improvement; and fisheries and aquaculture technology development. The successful candidate is expected to Teach a graduate/undergraduate level Ichthyology course, a Biology of Fishes course, and other courses of interest to the applicant. Teaching load will vary with departmental needs but will be no less than 1 regular course per semester; class sizes are typically 25-35 students. Participate in student advising and departmental recruitment activities. Provide evidence of collaboration and interdisciplinary research. Develop an internationally recognized research program supported by federal, state, and non-governmental sources and prepare graduate students in fisheries and aquaculture. Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and engage with student organizations. Demonstrate a commitment to campus inclusivity and diversity. Minimum Requirements: An earned Ph.D. degree by the date of appointment, Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, Evidence of interpersonal skills, A strong publication record and evidence of the ability to receive extramural funding, Evidence of successful university-level teaching, Candidates must have a record of working collaboratively with state and federal agencies and other stakeholders in natural resource management. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse workforce and clientele.
