Hampden-Sydney College invites applications for a full time, tenure-track Assistant Professor Environmental and Conservation Biology. Responsibilities include a 4/3 teaching load that includes lecture and laboratory courses for introductory and upper level courses. We have an active summer research program that provides housing and support for students conducting research with faculty. In 2022, the Biology Department will move into a new $40 million state-of-the-art-science building that will include growth chambers and a vivarium complex. Our current science building includes a greenhouse and 1300 acres of woods, streams, ponds, and fields for teaching and research.

Competitive applicants should hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field of Biology. Candidates must be broadly trained, dedicated to undergraduate teaching and advising, and prepared to supervise student research. We are interested in all sub-disciplines including Conservation Biology, Aquatic Ecology, Microbial Ecology, Sustainability, Spatial Ecology and Geoinformatics, and Ecosystem Science and Management.
