Description
Play a significant role in the conservation and management of wolves in Oregon! Join local ODFW district biologists and the statewide Wolf Program with all aspects of implementation of the Oregon Wolf Conservation and Management Plan! Be responsible for outreach to livestock producers, hunters, and the general public, to work towards improving social tolerance of wolves in Oregon. Monitor wolves with radio telemetry (air and ground), track surveys, remote camera deployment and other methods. Follow up on wolf reports and investigate new areas of resident wolf activity. Collect data and conduct spatial data analysis. Follow established protocols for wolf capture and immobilization for radio-collaring using foothold traps or helicopter darting. Conduct livestock depredation investigations, including necropsy and documentation. Focus on supporting livestock producers with technical knowledge about traditional and emerging non-lethal tools and techniques to reduce risk of livestock depredation. Qualifications
Requires two years of biological experience performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program that included one year of at least two of the following: gathering data, analyzing data, or preparing reports, and a Bachelor's degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science, or a closely-related Bachelor's degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework; or three additional years of biological experience performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program; OR • One year of biological experience performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program that included at least two of the following: gathering data, analyzing data, or preparing reports, and a Master's degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science, or a closely-related Master's degree in biological/ecological sciences; OR • A Doctorate degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science, or a closely-related Doctorate degree in biological/ecological sciences.
