The National Eagle Center is searching for summer 2022 Avian Care and Professional Presenter Interns. We have openings for interns who support the mission of the National Eagle Center and share our passion for eagles. An internship at the National Eagle Center is a great opportunity to develop skills in naturalist interpretation, public speaking, nonprofits, and recreation and tourism. We work to individualize the internship as much as possible by looking at each person’s prior experience, skill set and goals. Our staff will work with you to find the best fit. Some areas of interest and need are: Avian Care: Interns will learn what is required to care for our resident eagles and perform daily husbandry tasks. Daily husbandry includes cleaning the eagle enclosure, food preparation, perch maintenance, and enrichment for the resident eagles. Avian care position also includes the opportunity to learn about eagle behavior and offer interpretation to National Eagle Center visitors. Education: Develop world class interpretation and delivery skills for both one-on-one and large scale program settings. Interns will learn about bald and golden eagles, develop naturalist interpretation skills, and prepare and present a variety of live programs both in-person and virtual. Internships at the National Eagle Center are unpaid. Limited housing is available on site. Many interns have worked with their university to receive college credit.
The National Eagle Center Internship is designed to be a stepping stone into the career field of Naturalist Education and captive eagle care.
