FIELD ASSISTANTS needed for studies of a tropical songbird in Costa Rica. These studies will investigate variation in courtship behaviors of the White-ruffed Manakin (Corapipo altera) at Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio in northern Costa Rica. We will be surveying for lek sites and mist-netting, but the primary effort will be conducting intensive behavioral observations at display sites. Conditions will be wet, remote, and rustic. Research will begin early March 2018 and continue until mid-June 2018. Assistants should be willing to commit to the entire field season.
A positive attitude and ability to cope with unpredictable field conditions is absolutely necessary. We are especially seeking applicants with mist-netting and bird-handling skills. Prior experience working in the tropics, functional Spanish, and general outdoorsmanship are highly valued. Please send contact information for three references, a resumé or CV and a cover letter indicating why you are interested in this position to eshogren AT ksu.edu
