Highly motivated individual interested in coastal wetlands and waterbird and waterfowl ecology to work from April 2021 through approximately July 2021. Technician will assist graduate student assessing the efficacy of marsh terracing in coastal Louisiana. The technician will primarily assist with breeding secretive marsh bird surveys, vegetation sampling, and data entry. The technician will also assist with aerial wintering waterfowl survey datasets. Candidates should be prepared to work long and irregular hours, sometimes on weekends, and overnight travel to field sites for multiple nights. Housing and university vehicle for travel provided. Successful candidates will have a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and must be available to perform field work full time. Applicants recently graduated from or currently enrolled in a wildlife ecology and management or other closely related natural resource program, with an interest in birds and wetlands, are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of secretive marsh birds and waterfowl identification, experience operating surface drive boats, and a valid Louisiana boating license are preferred. This research can be rigorous and time consuming. A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and attention to details are necessary.
