Corvus Ecological Consulting has an immediate need for one or two positions to perform avian fatality monitoring at a solar farm in Barstow, CA. The positions are as follows
1. Field Surveyor
Required effort for the Field Surveyor would vary by season--need are highest in fall and spring and lower in winter and summer
Field Surveyor tasks would include:
Carcass Persistence Trials
2. Field Lead (FL)
The FL position would essentially be full time. FL tasks would include:
Carcass placement for searcher efficiency trials
Carcass placement for carcass persistence trials
Oversight of the above-reference trials
Management of project trials and Carcass Searching
Procure and manage trial specimens
Manage game cameras
Review game camera photos
The ideal candidates (for both of these positions) would be available for a term of 1-year. The Project could start as soon as 9/11/2017 and the estimate completion date is August 31st, 2018 (although trials may continue for an additional 30-days). This Project will be wholly managed by Corvus Ecological Consulting, LLC.
Corvus will provide a vehicle and equipment, but no lodging will be provided. The nearest hotel to the field site is a 45 minute drive. The time from the place of lodging to the work site will not count as work time.
Bachelor of Science in Biology or related field and a minimum of 2 years experience in avian field biology.
The work is not exciting and will require someone who has exquisite attention to detail and willing to endure long hours in a car at times in hot weather.
Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work well alone and in small groups is essential. Positive attitude at least one year commitment also required.
