The Center for Conservation Biology seeks 1 temporary field technician to conduct avian point count and vegetation surveys in coastal marshes along the Eastern Shore of Virginia. This position starts ASAP and ends July 15th The ideal candidate should be able to identify eastern bird species by sound, navigate in the field using a handheld GPS, are physically capable of traversing rigorous coastal terrain, and willing to work early mornings. The candidate will travel to and work independently in the field. The technician will be responsible for data collection, entry, and management. Field vehicle and shared housing are provided. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and will be required to pass a standard background check prior to hiring. Experience identifying eastern birds by sight and sound. Primarily coastal marsh species Experience conducting auditory point counts Working independently in remote areas Data entry and management Ability to physically traverse difficult terrain. Familiarity navigating with handheld GPS
