Description
We seek a motivated and experienced technician to assist with mallard, black duck, and scaup banding and deployment of GPS/GSM radio transmitters on Long Island, New York during winter 2023. In 2022, we banded a total of 275 individuals and deployed 20 transmitters, and we plan to deploy 50 transmitters in 2023. Work will include, but is not limited to, deployment of traps, capture, handling, and banding of black ducks, mallards and scaup, attachment of GPS/GSM transmitters, operation of pneumatic air cannon system, and data management. Applicants must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs, work in cold and inclement conditions, which includes work before dawn and after dark while standing in cold saltwater for extended periods all while sustaining a genuinely positive work environment. Previous waterfowl banding experience is highly-preferred and those with experience with waterfowl conservation and waterfowl hunting culture are encouraged to apply
