- Benchmark is an environmental consulting and services company located in Brookshire Texas. Benchmark offers a wide range of services including; ecological assessment, eco-toxicology, environmental impact studies, wetland delineations, environmental permitting, environmental sampling (water, sediment, and biological), wetland construction/restoration, and wildlife ecology. Position Description Benchmark is currently soliciting applications for an internship or employment for a botanist, biologist, or rangeland ecologist with skills in plant identification. Candidate should be able to efficiently key out plants in the field. Benchmark has a project in the state of Alabama that needs a biologist to identify and map noxious plants along a proposed pipeline. The project will be conducted in September through October 2021. Listed below are some of the tasks associated with the position. • Conduct vegetation surveys along a pipeline right of way • Use a GPS to map locations of noxious plants • A senior wetland scientist will spend one week in the field with the applicant to train you on tasks to be conducted • Provide daily updates to client Position Qualifications • Strong communication skills • Strong skills in plant identification • Ability to work in the field for up to 10 hours a day and 6 days a week. The project will require the applicant to work in Alabama for weeks at a time. On top of an hourly rate, Benchmark will pay for lodging, vehicle, general expenses, and meals while working in the field.
