The Environmental Services Intern (ESI) will work within the Resources Department to map sensitive vegetation, conduct restoration projects, detect and remove invasive plants, conduct habitat assessments, and maintain the native plant nursery. The ESI will also participate in resource protection and cleanup efforts during large-scale special events. The ESI will gather, input, and analyze the data gathered by staff using ArcGIS Online, Esri Collector/Field Maps, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access software. Under the guidance of lead resource staff, the ESI will write analytical/statistical reports for management review. The ESI may be participate in herbicide application under close supervision of a Qualified Applicator. The ESI may work independently and may guide the work of Senior Park Aides/Park Aides. Applicant must be able to safely operate various 4-wheel drive vehicles and tools associated with above tasks. State housing may be available.
The reporting location for this position is Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area, within Ocotillo Wells District. This position will work under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisor).

A Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, natural resources, or other related subject is required for this position.
