Biological Field Technician
Location: Bay City, TX

WEST is seeking one experienced birder to work as a part-time field technician for wildlife survey fieldwork in southeastern Texas, near Bay City.
This position is anticipated to start in mid-October 2017 and continue for one year, with the current effort being eight days per month. In addition to the field work effort, field technicians are expected to call in to the once-weekly Field Safety call, as well as submit their datasheets in a timely manner. Confidentiality is expected.
Successful candidates will be team players that communicate effectively with supervisors in a timely manner, adhere to field instructions, have excellent organizational skills, and the capability to conduct field surveys independently, effectively, and safely under sometimes difficult terrain and weather conditions
Start date: mid- October
A bachelor’s degree in a wildlife or biology-related field. Previous professional experience conducting wildlife field surveys is highly desired.
There are four primary qualifications sought for the position: 1) strong interpersonal skills, 2) bird identification and wildlife biology knowledge and field experience, 3) organizational skills, and 4) demonstrated responsibility and reliability, as testified by previous employers/supervisors/co-workers.

Successful candidates must be able to pass a background check; a pre-employment drug screen; and a DMV records check that meets WEST’s minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company.
