We are seeking a Bachelor’s or Master’s level ecologist or wildlife biologist to aid the USGS and USFWS in the creation of a database for acoustic and live capture data of the endangered Florida Bonneted Bat collected as part of Section 7 consultations. The employee would also help with construction of occupancy models and development of minimum sampling standards for the species. The position is supervised by USGS staff in Fort Lauderdale, FL but the person selected will also work closely with USFWS South Florida Ecological Services Field Office in Vero Beach, FL. Experience working with bats, especially bat acoustics, highly preferred.
This is a full-time position with benefits. Some overnight travel may be required. We welcome applications from those who are willing to work remotely outside of south Florida.

-A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Ecology, Wildlife Science, or related field
-Experience with database software and database management
-Proficiency at using R to manipulate data, write scripts, and analyze data
-Excellent GIS skills (generating maps, manipulating spatial data)
-Experience with bat echolocation ID software such as Kaleidoscope, Sonobat, EchoClass, etc
-Familiarity with field sampling techniques of bats
-Ability to work independently and within a team setting
-Excellent communication skills and comfort communicating mainly through video- and text-based technologies
