Arcadis is seeking an experienced Biologist/Ecologist to join our environmental permitting/ecological services team in Austin, Texas. The position will assist with permit compliance and support numerous client sectors with implementing field activities and preparing permit applications for a variety of capital improvement, maintenance, and remediation projects.
Primary responsibilities include:
•Conducting desktop assessments and field surveys (e.g., habitat evaluations and presence/absence surveys) to evaluate potential project impacts to sensitive habitats or special status species
•Conducting wetland delineations and functional assessments (e.g., Texas Rapid Assessment Methodology or Hydrogeomorphic Methodology), authoring associated reports, and coordinating agency approval
•Working with the Arcadis and client teams to develop project implementation and permitting strategies to efficiently comply with state and federal laws and regulations (e.g., Endangered Species Acts, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and Sections 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act)
•Preparation of regulatory permit application packages (e.g., US Army Corps of Engineer Clean Water Act Section 404 permit applications, 401 Water Quality Certification applications, and Section 402 NPDES permit applications)
•Preparation of technical reports such as species surveys, mitigation and monitoring plans, and biological assessments
•Monitoring of mitigation sites (including hydrology and vegetation studies)
•Periodic travel (up to 30 percent of the time)
•Work in inclement weather (often hot and humid) and over difficult or rough terrain
Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field
•Three (3) years of experience in the environmental field
•Knowledge of regional sensitive habitats and special status species
