Three bird banders needed to run mist-net stations from 7 August to 10 November in Manu National Park at Cocha Cashu Biological Station on a 100-hectare floodplain forest plot. This work is part of a larger study to characterize the organization of a neo-tropical bird community that was originally censused back in 1990. Primary duties will be to revisit a number of previously established mist net stations throughout the season and to collect morphometric data, band birds (metal and color) and collect blood samples and fecal samples. Banders will also be required to do data entry.
Prior mist-netting/banding experience is a must. Preference for individuals who have additionally had experience with protocols to collect blood and fecal samples from captured birds. Applicants should be prepared to start before dawn, work in remote conditions, and must get along well with others. All expenses including travel to and from the U.S. will be covered by this project. Interested persons should send a cover letter (in cover letter please provide a rough estimate for the number of birds you have taken out of mist-nets i.e. 10, 100, 500 etc.) and a CV with two contacts for references to Ari Martínez email@example.com by April 9th.
