Objective: Assist with Camp Sprig and other events at Grizzly Ranch in Suisun City, California, teaching attendees about waterfowl, wetlands, shooting, hunting, and conservation. Camp assistants will work closely with the Camp and Education Coordinators to promote and host numerous events between approximately May 28-August 9.
Duties: Assistants will work alongside CWA Staff to learn the camp programs and standards and be able to coordinate individual activities. Assist campers in a variety of activities throughout the week such as: duck banding, shooting skills development, hunter education, and other fun camp activities! Overnight supervision of campers staying in tents is required from Sunday-Thursday each week of camp.
Applicants must be 18 years or older and have basic wildlife and conservation biology knowledge. Public speaking skills and experience working with youth ages 8-17 is highly favored. General knowledge of North American waterfowl, waterfowl hunting, wetland habitats, and shooting is encourage but not required. Applicants in related fieldwork such as even planning, wildlife biology, recreation administration are preferred. Applicants must be energetic, organized, reliable, and self-motivated. CWA screens for DMV records and requires a fingerprint and background check prior to hiring.
