Description
Job Description and Duties - Challenge yourself and gain valuable skills working for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife in the Central Region (Region 4) of California helping to implement the Department's Responsible and Trustee Agency mandates under CEQA. Use your biological and analytical skills to assist our partner Lead Agency's with the development of their project's CEQA documents including providing valuable input into the CEQA Early Consultation process, responding to Notice's of Preparation, and analyzing and providing comments on Initial Study's and Draft Environmental Impact Reports. Work with a team of highly skilled professionals on these duties within the five northern counties of the Central Region, Region 4 (Madera, Merced, Mariposa, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne Counties). These ecologically rich counties possess a wide-range of habitats to help you develop new or strengthen your existing skills with many plant and animal species. Provide input on a wide range of project types including development, restoration, and planning projects. Help shape avoidance, minimization, and mitigation measures for projects in these beautiful counties in central California. Become a part of our team with CDFW Region 4! Working Conditions - The position requires the use of a computer for several hours each day, the completion of office tasks that require sitting, standing, and walking to other locations, participation in meetings, and occasional overnight travel. The position may also require field work and surveys during the early mornings or late nights, hiking over uneven and possibly steep or wet terrain, use of 4-wheel drive vehicle (including all-terrain vehicle), and work in inclement weather. A valid California driver license is required to drive to meetings and field sites. The position may require the incumbent to wear a uniform identifying the employee as Department staff. This position would be primarily based in Fresno County and is eligible for hybrid telework. Hybrid telework will be dependent on operational need and could change with shifting statewide telework policy changes.
Qualifications
Education: Possession of a bachelor's or advanced degree with a major in a biological, chemical, physical, or environmental science, soil science, water science, hydrology, agronomy, natural resource science, environmental or public health, physical geography, or a closely related scientific discipline. (Admission to a masters or doctoral degree program in a biological, chemical, physical, or environmental science, soil science, water science, hydrology, agronomy, natural resource science, environmental or public health, physical geography, or a closely related scientific discipline shall be considered to meet these education qualifications.)
