Sapelo Sea Farms is looking for individuals to work in the commercial clam industry. The position is a 12-week internship starting in July or ASAP. Interns will have an opportunity to work in the clam aquaculture business performing a variety of tasks including sorting bags of clams for sale, catching bags, and completing orders for customers. Additional opportunities include being on the water, handling seed or packing and grading for shipments. There will also be various tasks performed on the dock at Sapelo Sea Farms for the duration of the internship. The job requires applicants to be able to work long hours, occasionally in inclement weather. This is a full-time position (40+ hours per week) with overtime pay for all work exceeding 40 hours a week. Free individual housing is available. Based on performance, long-term employment opportunities may be offered at the end of the internship period. Minimum Qualifications: - Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks - High school diploma or GED - Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions - Must be able to take direction - Must have reliable transportation - Must be able to stand on your feet for a full 8+ hour shift -Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position Preferred qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree - Interest in learning about clam farming and the operations that occur in the job
