Position Description: The Raptor Center (TRC) is pleased to offer a full-time position as the manager of the raptor rehabilitation veterinary clinic. TRC is a non-profit, raptor rehabilitation and environmental education facility housed within the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Our mission is to ensure the health of raptors and the world we share. We provide medical care for 800-1,000 injured and ill wild raptors per year. The clinic is also actively involved in research, teaching, service, and public outreach. We conduct medical and ecosystem health focused research projects. We provide numerous in-person and virtual training opportunities focused on raptor medicine, surgery and rehabilitation. And we provide public education in conjunction with other TRC departments. Responsibilities: - Manage and supervise two veterinary technicians and several student workers - Supervise the daily activities of clinic and flight volunteers - Coordinate the rehabilitation (post-medical care) of raptor patients (pre-release conditioning and exams, banding, releases, renesting, placement of non-releasable at permitted institutions) - Oversee the husbandry of all patients in TRC’s clinic - Manage clinic facilities (arrange for minor repairs – plumbing, electrical, etc.) - Create reports required by state and federal permitting agencies - Manage the banding program (band patients, maintain the band inventory, input information into the database, submit info to USGS - Oversee the development and implementation of TRC’s virtual clinic training offerings (Raptor Academy). - Manage (write, assign, edit) social media inputs and act as clinic liaison to TRC’s Communications and Partnership Coordinator - Represent TRC at professional conferences - Provide professional consultations on raptor rehabilitation and release - Provide information to the general public about TRC’s clinic work and mission - Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree, and/or certified veterinary technician, and/or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least 4 years - Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience - Good oral and written communication skills, and willingness to speak in front of an audience - Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively with others, including strong interpersonal skills.
