Communications Interns play a crucial role in increasing public awareness and generating an understanding of the Wildlife Science Center and our mission. Internships will provide experience using media elements and marketing to build a story and share a cause. You will build your resume at a non-profit whose skills are sought by international, national, and regional institutions, regarding the care, handling, breeding, and ecological significance of wolves. Note: This internship will average 20 hours per week with a $75 stipend per week. Housing is not available for communications interns. Most work will be done on site for the first few weeks and may transition to work from home with weekly on site check ins. You must provide your own computer. Primary Internship Responsibilities: Increase social media following and public outreach Daily Facebook management, monitoring and growth Assure photos of animals are being taken in a timely manner to share with social media followers, and donors Create videos to showcase day to day life at WSC and share on social media platforms Promote Amazon Wish List donations as needed to minimize our supply costs Edit website to make it more user friendly and attractive Market events, public tours, and programs Create and manage online gift shop
Ability to work independently and be a self starter as well as work well with others Strong communication skills (written and oral) Be well organized and have the ability to relate to a wide variety of individuals Must adhere to all safety SOPs while on-site Ability to work occasional weekends and/or evenings to help with events Must be able to take and follow directions, completing assigned tasks in a timely manner Undergraduate, graduate student or recent graduate Must have taken or be enrolled in a communications, marketing, media or similar coursework Experience with Microsoft office and the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite are preferable Must be punctual and have regular attendance Possess a willingness to learn Highly motivated to support the Wildlife Science Center Willing to abide by the Wildlife Science Center’s mission, vision and values To Apply: Email a cover letter, resume, unofficial transcripts, two completed reference forms and the completed internship application form on our website to (Note: If you are using the online reference and application forms, they do not need to be separately emailed after being submitted through the website.)
