- POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Community Outreach & Marketing Manager is responsible for ensuring that the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society’s (DDWS) programs, activities, and public perception all resonate with our mission and vision and overarching branded position. This position is responsible for overseeing the coordination and implementation of most programs and outreach activities managed by the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, photography contests, scholarship programs, grant programs, outreach events, and tours. This position will also manage a small portfolio of donors. This position will also work collaboratively with Refuge staff when necessary. This is a full-time position within the Development Department that reports to the Associate Executive Director. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: BRANDING & MARKETING • Ensure the DDWS brand standards are implemented correctly throughout all departments of the organization. • Create promotional and fundraising materials (or templates) for all departments including Development, Nature Store, and Education. Any events or programming materials handled by the Events & Programming Officer will be reviewed for branding standards. • Lead the social media strategy for the DDWS. Work in collaboration with other staff to ensure all programs, events, website and information is posted and scheduled. • Be the organizational lead and manage interns in communications of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Constant Contact, YouTube, etc. • Assist with twice a year newsletter mailings, year-end solicitations and other large mailings when needed. • Responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the DDWS website (training will be given), working closely with the Events & Programming Officer who was a member of the implementation team. COMMUNITY OUTREACH • Have a strong presence in our islands and off-island community by attending and staffing community outreach events as required. • Make contacts within the community and arrange to present at clubs, organizations, and businesses. Work to strengthen and enhance the relationship with the local Hispanic and minority communities. PROGRAMS • Manage the “Ding” Darling – Theodore Cross High School Photography Contest, the Amateur Photography Contest, and any other contests established by the DDWS. • Manage the scholarship program, the teacher grant program, and any other granting programs conducted by the organization. • Coordinate the planning, funding, and implementation of the annual film and lecture series, off-site projects such as Shell Point lectures and working in coordination with other team members. • In coordination and partnership with the Refuge liaison, oversee all educational interpretation for exhibits in the Visitor & Education Center funded by the DDWS. DEVELOPMENT AND GOVERNANCE • Manage a small donor portfolio of donors between $500 - $2,500. Maintain communication with prospects as assigned. Learn and use the donor software (Donor Perfect) in entering information in collaboration with the development team. Assist in maintaining donor data base integrity. • Assist in the coordination of donor stewardship visits and lead tours when necessary. • Work with the Development team and assist in all areas of fundraising when needed and required. • Develop relationships with the local hotels and resorts and re-imagine the Accommodation Partnerships • Serve on the Education Committee and the Community Outreach Committee. • Assist with Board meetings when needed. OTHER • Staff the Refuge Nature Store when needed and attend store training. • Along with the Development Officer for Events & Programming, recruit, hire, train, and manage two Society interns. • Other duties as requested.
