Description
Cedar Breaks National Monument is a hidden gem surrounded by some of the most popular national parks in the United States. The individual selected for this position will have the opportunity to work with park staff, partners, and the community to develop a strategic plan for the volunteer program at Cedar Breaks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with personal drive and the passion to active community stewardship on their public lands. - Develop a SWOT analysis of the current program - Complete a volunteer needs assessment - Create goals, objectives, and measurements for program success - Generate and implement a program recruitment and retention strategy - Plan and execute volunteer service events - Connect with current partners and look beyond these traditional relationships to identify strategies for engaging with new partners - Leverage the park's relationship with the Outdoor Leadership Academy to engage with these under-represented communities in the southern Utah and Nevada region **Interns who complete term are eligible for AmeriCorps Award: $6,345 (pre-tax)
Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills - Strong critical thinking and analytical skills - Dedication to attention to detail - Ability to learn basic information about Cedar Breaks National Monument and the local area - Ability to work unsupervised and independently - Strong commitment to ethics and personal responsibility - Outgoing and friendly personality rooted in respect and understanding - Education: High School diploma/GED required - Between the ages of 18-30 years old (35 years old if you are a veteran) - Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident - Submit proof of a Driver’s License and undergo a Federal Background Check, upon selection - It is very likely that all participants will be required to be fully vaccinated to serve in the 2022 CVA Program. Ata minimum participants will be required to get tested weekly if they are not vaccinated. Dates for implementing these requirements are not yet determined, but we expect that compliance will be necessary by the end of 2021.
