Are you looking to learn about the business side of the National Park Service while also being able to get outside? The Great Basin Institute, a non-profit leader in natural and cultural resource stewardship for the past two plus decades, in cooperation with the National Park Service, is recruiting a Concessions Management Specialist. The Lake Mead (LAKE) Commercial Services Division is seeking a Concessions Management Specialist position focused primarily on managing the recreation area’s Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) program. In a fast paced, detail-oriented, and fun environment, you will oversee companies that provide a multitude of services to thousands of park visitors every year. Primary duties include data collection and analysis, customer service and collaboration, and upholding legal compliance. Monitoring and evaluating CUA services can get you outside for activities such as kayaking the Black Canyon Water Trail, fishing trips on the lake, jetboating up into the Grand Canyon, and more! While primary duty hours are from 8am-4:30pm, Monday- Friday, telework opportunities and flexible scheduling are available.
Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Sales and Marketing - Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems. Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Computers and Electronics – Ability to successfully utilize software such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications; Organization and Communication - Strong organizational skills and ability to work cooperatively as well as independently; ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including the public, both in writing and orally.
