Position Overview: -Connect young people with nature -Impact the lives of youth -Teach job-skills and education lessons -Accomplish meaningful service projects We have current leadership openings for our Oregon Youth Camping programs. Crew leaders oversee field operations and provide a meaningful experience for our participants ages 15-19 and deliver conservation work expectations set by our partners.  Northwest Youth Corps leaders perform many roles and are the key to our program's success. They understand that being a leader is much more than being a boss. They have the drive, commitment, and mental toughness to carry them through the unexpected challenges that arise at the most inopportune of times; a remote location with bad weather, in the middle of trying to complete a mile of new trail, finish a bridge, or eradicate an invasive species. The position is multi-faceted and demanding, but with opportunity for enormous rewards. Successful leaders demonstrate high standards, good sense, excellent judgment, and the desire to devote themselves to the crew and program alike. The leader position requires physical aptitude, mental fortitude, and a high level of comfort in the outdoors. TRAINING: NYC offers exceptional training including USDA equivalent chainsaw training. Position Type: Seasonal starting July 18th - COMPENSATION: Ranges from $720- $740 weekly
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: -At least 21 years old -Preferred- Current Wilderness First Aid (or higher) and CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to employment start date -Recreational/ professional outdoor experience, accustomed to living for periods of time without modern conveniences -Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds -Experience/desire in working with diverse populations -Current Driver's License and ability to pass background checks and follow COVID protocols
