Description
Educators in this fulltime multifaceted position conduct formal and informal programs that share their enthusiasm for the role of KDFWR in the management and conservation of fish and wildlife. Responsibilities include delivering daily public programs utilizing props, chalkboards, and live animals, roving with program animals, and conducting animal trainings and enrichments. Educators also conduct hunter range day certification course, create written reports, and develop educational materials. In addition, educators assist with animal husbandry, visitor services, admissions, sales, and grounds and trail upkeep. Work is performed in an indoor classroom as well as various outdoor zoo settings, amphitheater, and on a firing range. This position pays $16.13/hr. and runs through November 2023. Incumbent must: • Work 37.5 hours, Tue. through Sat. from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. and special events • Be comfortable with public speaking and working hands on with wildlife such as snakes, turtles, and raptors • Work in an outdoor setting, run, stoop, bend, push, pull, and lift heavy objects • Be comfortable with computers and small tools including blowers, weed eaters, trimmers, shovels, etc. • Obtain a Hunter Education Card, a hunting or fishing license issued by KDFWR, and a certification in CPR/First Aid.
Qualifications
