- Description
- The Chowan Basin Soil & Water Conservation District is accepting applications for a Conservation Technician. This full-time position will provide technical and educational assistance to clients in the implementation of the Virginia Agricultural Best Management Practices cost-share program. Primary duties include conservation planning, technical field work, and providing technical assistance for installation of conservation practices, preparing, and evaluating cost share applications, computer application and reporting to Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation; serving as technical advisor for the District, representing the District on technical committees and organizations as assigned. Secondary responsibilities of the position include assisting with educational and public relations communications, materials, and projects to accomplish the District’s goals.
- Qualifications
- Applicants must have a college degree or the equivalent in education and work experience. They must possess a valid driver’s license. Requirements for the position include proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, the ability to work independently and in a team environment, multitask, prioritize, be a self-starter, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The ideal applicant will also have knowledge of non-point source pollution control activities, agricultural operations, soil and water conservation issues, and agricultural best management practices. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a federal background check.
