Research Technician - LTE
The Department of Natural Resources is hiring ten (10) LTE Research Technicians to assist with the Southwest Deer and Predator Research Project!
This position will be responsible for capturing and collaring white-tailed deer for the Southwest Deer and Predator Research Project for WDNR. Research technicians will be the primary Department staff accomplishing field work for this project.

A3. Maintaining vehicles and equipment used for deer research
A4. Capturing, handling, collaring white-tailed deer

B1. Road kill deer data collection
B2. CWD Sampling in deer research project area
B3. Deer mortality investigations
B4. Checking trail cameras
B5. Maintaining positive relations with landowners and volunteers
B6. Other duties as assigned

Applicants should have academic or professional training in wildlife ecology. Required qualifications include an enthusiasm for outdoor work with wildlife, willingness to live and work independently in remote locations, able to work well with others in small teams, detail-oriented and ability to follow study protocols and carefully record data, and willingness to work long hours in the field in inclement weather (including extreme cold).
Highly qualified applicants will have prior experience in off-road driving 4-wheel drive vehicles, ATVs, and UTVs. Experience using trailers is also preferred.
