Corvus Ecological Consulting is seeking several qualified field biologists for a Mojave Desert Tortoise project in California and Nevada. Applicants MUST have demonstrable experience with Mojave Desert Tortoise. We will discard any applicants that do not have this experience. Duration of project is expected to be two weeks starting as early as September 28, 2020, but dates are flexible, and project may extend beyond anticipated end date.
Work is full time up to 12 hours per day Monday through Friday. Applicant will be part of a team but will also be required to work alone and respect ALL Covid 19 protocols and CDC guidelines involving social distancing and mask wearing. Anyone NOT prepared to follow Covid 19 guidelines should NOT apply. Field workers will be required to camp and must possess personal camping equipment suitable for desert camping. Work may include driving over rough, unmaintained roads, hiking in rough terrain, and dealing with temperature extremes. A per diem will be provided as well as a vehicle stipend for workers possessing their own 4WD, high clearance, reliable vehicle.
There will be two types of positions: desert tortoise presence/absence surveys and construction compliance monitoring.

Desert tortoise survey field workers will be required to hike in rough terrain for extended periods. Fieldworkers should
• Be Physically fit
• Have exceptional knowledge of desert tortoise sign.
• Have experience with GPS units, basecamp software, and topographic maps
Construction monitoring field workers are expected to
• Have knowledge of rules and regulations concerning construction activities in desert tortoise habitat
• Have a keen eye for details
• Possess the ability to confront non-compliant workers in a helpful and non-confrontational way
• Have experience working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
