Description
An NSF-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Jezkova lab at Miami University to investigate patterns and mechanisms driving diversification of Oedipodinae grasshoppers. Duties/Physical Demands: • Collect specimens of Oedipodinae grasshoppers across US and Mexico • Prepare voucher specimens and curate tissue collection • Generate and analyze genomic data • Responsible for presenting data and writing manuscripts • Provide guidance and mentoring for graduate and undergraduate students in the lab • Participate in a yearly Bioinformatics workshop and a First Year Research Experience (FYRE) Program To apply, please send (1) a cover letter that explains your research interests and experiences, (2) your current Curriculum Vitae, and (3) contact information for three references as a single PDF file to Dr. Tereza Jezkova (jezkovt@miamioh.edu). Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in biology with focus on insect ecology or evolution. The candidate must have fieldwork experience and be able to travel between US and Mexico. The candidate must be highly motivated. Desired Qualifications: Favorable consideration may be given to candidates who have experience with insect collecting and curation, systematics, and phylogenetics. The candidate must be comfortable with conducting extensive fieldwork. Strong computational skills and experience with genomic approaches are preferred but not required. The candidate should be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
